Renewing the CIFP

It has been a while since I posted to the Blog as I have struggled to figure out the identity of the CIFP. When I started 5 years ago there was a lack of education in the field of photography. In the ensuing years there has been a proliferation of seminars, classes and workshops both locally and around the country. Even the web has become full of webinars, tutorials and products. I felt I was lost in a sea of information and lost what it was that I wanted to focus on.

I am still developing my direction but have made a decision to continue my original mandate which is to develop and promote the photographic community in Calgary and area. This does not mean I won't introduce you to items I find of interest around the world but I will try to search out events in Calgary to give you a heads up on what is happening.

What will change is the way I deliver this information. I will be using this blog to promote and link events instead of services like constant contact which I used previously. I will send out e-mails to those on my mailing list to remind you to check the blog but this will be on a bi-weekly or special announcement basis. The web-site will be redesigned and I will be using it as well to post events and information.

As always you have the option of opting out of my e-mail list and may do so by sending an e-mail to patrick@cifp-online.com with the subject remove and I will take you off the list. I intend to keep this a free service but will be organizing my own events from time to time. I also do invite you to donate to the CIFP if you feel so inclined to help keep it running and growing.

In the future I plan to keep daily posts fairly short with links to events and information. There may be the odd time that I compose a longer article on a topic I think may be of interest to you. I also invite you to submit events, gallery openings, websites or stories that you wish to share.

I thank all of you who have taken the time to read this post and hope I will see you at one of the events that happen in Calgary.
