Revamping and bringing the CIFP up to speed.

For the last couple of years I have had the CIFP up on the shelf as I spent time with my family and my teaching duties at SAIT.  Now that my boys are a little older I now have the chance to refocus my efforts on the CIFP.   I will be using this blog to announce Calgary events to my followers on Facebook, the CIFP meet up group and my mailing list.  I think this will be the best way to track how I am reaching people as well as keeping the e-mail sweet and short.  If you are like me when you get these long e-mail newsletters you tend to gloss over them and might miss some information.  By informing these and other communities that a new blog post is up and inviting you to read it keeps things to the point.  If you are having or know of an event in the Calgary event please e-mail me at registration@cifp-online.com .  On that note I will keep it short and share the following event.

Running time is about 1 1/2 hours with discussion to follow. A suggested $5 will help cover the cost of the room rental. You can learn more about Ron at http://www.rongalella.com/ or search for him on Facebook and twitter.

Friday April 13 at 7:00 @ U of C. Glamour Photographer and Author Rolando Gomez will do a presentation on the world of Glamour Photography. More information to follow soon. Tickets are $30 and you can register at the link below.

Saturday April 14 at 10:00 am. Rolando Gomez workshop. Limited to 16 photographers there will be instruction by Rolando on lighting and posing the glamour shoot. Four models will be present and photographers will have time to work with each of them. This workshop tends to fill up fast so register at the link bellow.

Renewing the CIFP

It has been a while since I posted to the Blog as I have struggled to figure out the identity of the CIFP. When I started 5 years ago there was a lack of education in the field of photography. In the ensuing years there has been a proliferation of seminars, classes and workshops both locally and around the country. Even the web has become full of webinars, tutorials and products. I felt I was lost in a sea of information and lost what it was that I wanted to focus on.

I am still developing my direction but have made a decision to continue my original mandate which is to develop and promote the photographic community in Calgary and area. This does not mean I won't introduce you to items I find of interest around the world but I will try to search out events in Calgary to give you a heads up on what is happening.

What will change is the way I deliver this information. I will be using this blog to promote and link events instead of services like constant contact which I used previously. I will send out e-mails to those on my mailing list to remind you to check the blog but this will be on a bi-weekly or special announcement basis. The web-site will be redesigned and I will be using it as well to post events and information.

As always you have the option of opting out of my e-mail list and may do so by sending an e-mail to patrick@cifp-online.com with the subject remove and I will take you off the list. I intend to keep this a free service but will be organizing my own events from time to time. I also do invite you to donate to the CIFP if you feel so inclined to help keep it running and growing.

In the future I plan to keep daily posts fairly short with links to events and information. There may be the odd time that I compose a longer article on a topic I think may be of interest to you. I also invite you to submit events, gallery openings, websites or stories that you wish to share.

I thank all of you who have taken the time to read this post and hope I will see you at one of the events that happen in Calgary.

GPS

Picked up the Jobo PhotoGPS unit. It is a nice piece of equipment. Only improvment would to be a way to lock it to the hot shoe (falls off to easily).
